Sejarah telah mencatat beberapa tragedi dan kerusuhan yang memicu perpecahan antar umat beragama, suku, dan ras di Indonesia. Sebut saja kerusuhan di Situbondo, Maluku, Tasikmalaya, Sanggau Ledo, Tanah Abang, dan Poso. Di situ, semua pihak merasa paling benar dan melupakan akibat dari apa yang mereka lakukan.

Etnosentrisme seperti itu sering dipahami sebagai keyakinan yang buta. Hanya melihat melalui kaca mata subyektif yang semu. Tidak peduli dengan masyarakat lain yang sebenarnya memiliki hak yang sama di muka bumi ini.

Sayangnya, meski banyak digembor-gemborkan betapa pentingnya menjaga kerukunan antar manusia dari berbagai segi, masih ada juga masyarakat yang terpancing. Secara psikologis, di saat orang dalam kerumunan, maka mereka akan “menghilangkan” jati dirinya, dan kemudian menyatu ke dalam jiwa massa. Di sinilah rasio dan intelektualitas masyarakat biasanya “menghilang”. Terbawa kondisi jiwa massa yang sering bersifat agresif, destruktif, dan hilang akal.

Kembali pada kasus blog di atas, sempat pula beredar isu kalau akses ke wordpress akan diblokir. Kalau memang itu terjadi, penindaknya sama saja dengan demonstran yang berlaku vandalis. Tidak mengutamakan kecerdasan dalam menyelesaikan masalah.

Padahal solusinya sederhana, tangkap saja pelakunya sebagai cyber criminal. Apalagi sekarang negara kita sudah memiliki undang-undang yang mengatur masalah informasi dan transaksi elektronik (UU ITE). Jelas-jelas kalau pelakunya melanggar UU ITE Bab VII Pasal 28 tentang perbuatan yang bisa menimbulkan SARA.

Tapi, kebiasaan masyarakat di negara kita adalah membesar-besarkan masalah. Meruncingkannya menjadi sentimen yang bisa menyulut keresahan dan memicu konflik horisontal. Kenapa harus hal tersebut yang dipertajam?

Sekarang ini, teknologi internet sedang berkembang pesat. Begitu juga dengan masyarakat penggunanya. Miris rasanya kalau akses internet seperti Wordpress sampai ditutup. Tidak sebanding dengan manfaat yang bisa didapat.

Bila pemerintah sudah bertindak cepat seperti kasus di atas, sekarang tinggal masyarakatnya yang harus terus dipupuk rasa kebersamaannya. Saling menghormati sesama pemeluk agama dan menghargai keyakinan masing-masing.

Seperti pandangan seorang mistikus abad ke-13 dari Italia, Fransiskus, yang beranggapan bahwa setiap makhluk ciptaan mempunyai “fatherhood” yang sama, sebab semuanya memiliki keterciptaan yang sama. Fransiskus memandang dan menyapa setiap manusia dan ciptaan Tuhan sebagai “saudara” atau “saudari”.

Sehingga dia mampu menggalang persaudaraan universal dan rohani yang tidak dibatasi garis keturunan, darah, dan latar belakang kehidupan. Sama halnya dengan pandangan Mahatma Gandhi mengenai “ahimsa”(Kerikil-Kerikil Di Jalan Reformasi, William Chang).

Sebuah Titik Hitam

Hanya ada 3 partai politik ketika jaman orde baru, sebut saja partai merah, kuning, dan hijau. Beberapa kali Pemilu, masyarakat stagnan kehidupan demokrasinya. Membeku ditutupi hegemonitas satu partai. Tapi, revolusi rakyat dengan era reformasi mengubah itu semua.

Rakyat menginginkan kehidupan politik yang lebih demokratis dan dihormati hak pilihnya. Tidak lagi dicucuk hidungnya seperti kerbau. Euporia reformasi pun bergejolak di mana-mana, demokrasi dijadikan alas dalam merubah paradigma berpolitik di negeri ini.

Namun, setelah beberapa tahun bongkar pasang penguasa dan memupuk “belajar berdemokrasi”, salah satunya lewat kebebasan mendirikan berbagai partai politik, rakyat kini sepertinya mulai “bosan”. Trauma kehidupan politik masa lalu dan bayang-bayang kecendrungan penguasa atau politisi yang hanya mementingkan diri sendiri, korup, dan pengubar janji, memunculkan kembali massa Golput (golongan putih).

Indikasi tersebut bisa dibaca lewat beberapa Pilkada di daerah-daerah. Golput bukan saja eksis, tapi mampu menguasai presentase dalam sebuah pemilihan kepala daerah. Seperti ketika Pilkada di DKI yang mencatat massa Golput sekitar 37%, Jabar 40%, Jateng 45.25%, Bali, 25%, Sumut 40%, Sumsel 29%, Sumbar 35,70%, Riau 40%, Kaltim 42-50%.

Hal yang mencuat sebagai pertanyaan adalah kenapa banyak masyarakat yang tidak menyuarakan hak pilihnya? Kenapa mereka lebih memilih Golput ketika kran demokrasi terbuka lebar? Bukannya masyarakat pernah dikebiri hak pilihnya selama 32 tahun?

Ketidakpercayaan, trauma masa lalu, dan kurangnya sosialisasi partai politik peserta Pemilu serta calon legislatif, bisa jadi penyebabnya. Istilahnya, rakyat tidak mau “membeli kucing dalam karung”.

Tapi, dengan memilih Golput, masyarakat sejatinya malah tidak mempunyai “kucing” yang mungkin memiliki potensi besar meningkatkan perekonomian bangsa, mampu mengentaskan kemiskinan dan pengangguran, membenahi kurikulum pendidikan yang lebih berorientasi praktis, dan sebagainya.

Biar bagaimana pun, siapa yang terpilih dalam Pilkada atau Pemilu, akan menentukan nasib rakyat dan memiliki pengaruh besar dalam berbagai segi kehidupan. Perlu diingat, dalam negara demokrasi, hal tersebut ditentukan oleh rakyat.

Kalau memang rakyat trauma dengan pejabat yang korupsi, bermoral bejad, sering tidur ketika rapat, berkolusi jahat, nepotis, dan egois, itu hanya segelintir saja. Bagaimana dengan mereka-mereka yang benar-benar berjuang untuk kemaslahatan rakyat banyak di Gedung MPR/DPR dan istana presiden?

Titik Hitam
Ada sebuah filosofi negeri Tirai Bambu yang bercerita tentang sebuah titik hitam. Di situ, diceritakan tentang seorang guru yang menunjukkan selembar kertas putih yang di tengahnya ada sebuah titik hitam.

Sambil memerlihatkan lembar kertas tersebut, guru tadi bertanya, “Apa yang kalian lihat anak-anak?” Murid-muridnya menjawab serempak, “Sebuah titik hitam, Bu.”
Kemudian, sang guru pun balik bertanya, “Kenapa kalian hanya berkonsentrasi pada titik hitam yang melambangkan kegelapan, kesengsaraan, penderitaan, pikiran negatif, cemburu, dan sebagainya? Apakah kalian tidak melihat bagian besar dari kertas yang berwarna putih ini?”

Bertolak dari cerita tersebut, Golput yang pernah digagas Arief Budiman pada tahun 1971, tidak jauh berbeda dengan titik hitam yang diceritakan di atas. Ketika hanya titik hitam yang menjadi pusat perhatian, masyarakat tidak melihat sisi lain yang nyatanya lebih besar dari sekedar titik hitam.

Di sisi lain, perspektif berpolitik masyarakat yang tidak menggunakan hak pilihnya, secara tidak langsung, bisa merusak transformasi politik Indonesia yang masih berjalan. Apalagi kalau jumlahnya terus membengkak dan berubah menjadi pola pikir orang kebanyakan dan menjadi budaya massa.

Akan lebih parah lagi jika ada organisasi masyarakat atau tokoh intektual yang melegitimasi golongan putih ini. Golput bisa berubah menjadi hegemoni massa dan menyeret masyarakat lain mengikuti arus massa mengambang.

Konsekuensi bila Golput menang, legitimasi Pemilu diragukan dan Indonesia tidak memiliki wakil rakyat dan presiden. Bila begitu, akan timbul gerakan revolusioner yang menggangu stabilitas nasional karena hilangnya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap pemerintah.

Meski sebuah sikap politik dari ketidakpercayaan masyarakat, Golput bukanlah pilihan bijaksana buat masyarakat demokratis. Partisipasi politik masyarakat sangat diperlukan dalam menjaga kehidupan berdemokrasi di negara ini. Karena bagaimana pun, negara membutuhkan partai politik, anggota legislatif, dan eksekutif untuk terus bergulir.
